A School For Social Justice!

At PS 6X, every member of our team is committed to creating a safe environment in which each and every one of our students can fully express themselves, truly feel seen and heard and learn how to advocate as they interact in the world. Our team has committed to taking action to promote racial and social justice in our school community. We have committed to this Call to Action by teaching our students about social justice concepts and safe ways to change the unfair practices that exist in the world. We are confident that by empowering our students with awareness, knowledge and advocacy skills, we can begin to change the world, making it a peaceful place for all of humanity regardless of skin color or any other differences that exist between us.

Our students…

learn NYS standards in Mathematics, Reading, Writing, Science and Social Studies through a social justice lens. This means that instructional materials are specially curated to reflect each student's race, ethnicity, culture, and preferences. Students are given the tools and learn the skills necessary to advocate and become agents of change.

contributed to the writing of our Community Agreements that redefines our responsibilities as educators to be the catalyst for change, lead with an open heart, speak life into our students and build strong connections. We believe in our students' genius!
