Change for Kids
Change for Kids’ priority is to engage children in underserved communities early in their educational careers so that they can stay on track academically. Children who leave elementary school not reading proficiently and without core social-emotional competencies are more likely to drop out of high school. This risk is greatest for students from low-income communities.
Working with school leadership, we support their efforts to improve literacy, social-emotional learning and community engagement so that our students have the skills they need to be prepared for success in middle school and beyond.
PBIS with ClassDojo
To give teachers, parents, and students the power to create incredible classrooms
At ClassDojo, we want to transform education for every kid in the world. To do this – and do it soon – we have a simple plan: connect teachers, parents, and students in every classroom, and work with them every day to bring the best ideas into their classrooms.
It's not about creating an “ideal” classroom, a one-size-fits-all model that everyone must fit, because there's no such thing. Instead, we believe that teachers, parents and students should have the power to create an incredible classroom that is best for them. And, we believe that when you give good people simple ways to do the right things, amazing things will happen.
That's how we believe we can transform education. Together. By helping every teacher, parent, and student in the world create an incredible classroom all their own.
CookShop in Schools
With hands-on workshops reaching over 50,000 New Yorkers annually across all five boroughs, CookShop teaches nutrition and physical activity information, as well as cooking skills, fostering enthusiasm for fresh, affordable fruits, vegetables and other whole foods.
Universal Literacy
Through Universal Literacy, schools receive support from a dedicated reading coach, who works with kindergarten through second grade teachers to ensure students are reading on grade level by the end of second grade. The goal of the initiative is to have at least two-thirds of students reading on grade level by the end of second grade by 2022, with the target of 100 percent of all second graders reading at grade level by 2026.
DreamYard Arts - After School Program
DreamYard collaborates with Bronx youth, families and schools to build pathways to equity and opportunity through the arts.
DreamYard programs develop artistic voice, nurture young peoples’ desire to make change and cultivate the skills necessary to reach positive goals. We believe that young people in the Bronx need a continuous set of supports to help them towards positive outcomes as they navigate their educational pathway. We have every expectation that through offering sustained and meaningful supports our youth will develop the necessary tools to become creative and engaged citizens, life-long learners and the leaders and innovators of the 21st century.
